Measuring results

Which B2B outreach metrics should I track?

Track the path from relevant prospects to useful conversations and completed business. Delivery, replies, positive replies, qualified opportunities, and sales answer different questions. Include negative outcomes such as invalid addresses, opt-outs, and unanswered interested buyers. Define each metric before comparing campaigns so the numbers describe the same thing.

How to approach it

  1. Separate all replies from replies showing real interest.
  2. Record qualified opportunities using explicit criteria.
  3. Review quality and workload alongside volume.
Illustrative example

An out-of-office message counts as a reply event but not buyer interest. Reporting both under one “reply rate” can make a campaign look effective while producing few actual conversations.
