What should I include in an AI project brief?
Describe the business task, users, current tools, example inputs, desired output, and what a person must approve. Include constraints such as data sensitivity, access permissions, language, and acceptable failure handling. You do not need to choose a model or technical architecture before explaining the problem.
How to approach it
- Show a few representative examples with unnecessary personal data removed.
- Describe how the team will judge a useful result.
- Define scope, handover, and ongoing support expectations.
“Read incoming service requests and prepare a draft summary for review” is more actionable than “add AI to our business.” It gives the developer a task, a user, and an approval point.
