How do I handle a B2B price objection?
First understand what the buyer is comparing: total budget, another supplier, internal effort, or uncertainty about value. Explain the scope and assumptions behind the price. If the budget does not fit, a smaller first project may be more appropriate than a discount on an unchanged promise. Be comfortable acknowledging a poor fit.
How to approach it
- Ask which part of the cost is difficult to justify.
- Separate required work from optional scope.
- Document any revised scope and price together.
If the buyer cannot fund a company-wide workflow, a limited process review may be useful on its own. Do not sell it as a cheap substitute while implying it delivers the same result.
