Replies and follow-ups

What should a sales handoff include?

A useful handoff lets the next person continue the conversation without asking the buyer to repeat everything. Include the buyer’s actual words, current process, relevant constraints, participants, and the next step already agreed. Keep assumptions visibly separate from confirmed facts and preserve any communication preferences.

How to approach it

  1. Summarize the problem and what has been confirmed.
  2. Link the conversation history and useful research.
  3. Name the person responsible for the next action.
Illustrative example

“Interested in reducing manual supplier-form entry; current tool unknown; asked for a written example by Thursday” is more useful than “hot lead.” It tells the next person both what to do and what remains uncertain.
